Emergency Car Kits Must Haves

Nobody wants to use an emergency car kit, but that isn’t a good enough reason not to have one. Depending on where you live in Canada and where you take your vehicle will determine what emergency supplies you should keep in your roadside emergency kit. We’ve compiled a list of some items to carry with you in case of an emergency, whether commuting to work or on a long road trip.

Items To Have No Matter What

There are certain items you should have on you at all times, even if it’s not for extreme situations, especially if it’s the winter. After all, Canadian winters can be rather relentless. No matter what emergency car kit list you look at, they will all have a cell phone on it, and we’re pretty sure no one leaves their house without it anyway, so check that off the list. As for items that are just handy to have: first aid kit, jumper cables, ice scraper and snow brush, even if just to scrape your windshield after a Costco trip, phone charger, and windshield washer fluid. These are essential everyday items that can be used without an emergency happening.

Extreme Emergency Preparedness

The following items will fall on the extreme side for the average person travelling to and from work or doing errands around town. If you love your road trips or heading into the bush, add these items to the back of your vehicle just in case. As scary as it may seem, carry a seatbelt cutter, road flares, and fire extinguisher. For winter driving trips, throw some kitty litter in your vehicle to be used in the event of needing traction on icy roads, antifreeze, a small shovel, and warmers. In addition, have some energy bars or other non-perishable food items and bottled water as you never know how long you might have to wait for roadside assistance. It’s smart to have a flashlight, extra batteries, tow rope, and tool kit.

As much of a pain as it is to lug this all in your vehicle, you might need it one day. Whether you are in the market for your next vehicle or just need some advice for roadside emergencies, the team at FFUN Cars is here to help. Stop by or contact us today.
